It is not dangerous unless you disturb the roofing, as would happen during re-roofing.
It can affect the re-sale value somewhat, as re-roofing a house with asbestos will be more expensive due to disposal costs (depending on where you live, that is, some countries may not have strict laws about handling asbestos).
Legally removing asbestos from anywhere in a house,including the roof,is a problem and is expensive.
I recomend getting an independant housing inspector to check the house.They will be working for you and will almost always save you money in the long run .
Be sure to check thier referances though.
Asbestos shingles will last for a very long time if undisturbed. They are fireproof and relatively strong, too. Have a roofer look at it first.
