I bought an asbestos lock box, its older but its still in good condition?

My question is if it could somehow endanger me of the cancer it can cause

If there is asbestos exposed, then the more you are around it, the greater your risk. There is no way to quantify it absolutely but unless you abuse the box or it is leaking, you would never exceed any government standards for exposure.
