I lived with my sons grandparents for about 6 years in the early 90's and the grandfather passed away from asbestos cancer in his stomach about 12 years ago. Knowing that our clothes were washed together and being a part of the household, would it be possible? My son brought it up today and now it has concerned me.

  1. Dr.Gagan Saini says:

No Mesothelioma is not contagious. But if u live in the same environ as he did– Asbestos laden, then of course there is a chance

Yes it is possible you have been exposed too. One of the hospitals I work for is near the Port of Los Angeles and I have seen several spouses who got mesothelioma from being exposed to asbestos on their spouses clothing. However, there is nothing you can do about it once it is done and worry does no good. It takes about 25 years to manifest.
