I am moving into a house that has a bedroom with an old, glued-down linoleum floor. Is it safer to put in a nailed-down real wood floor over the linoleum floor or a floating laminate floor? I am concerned about releasing asbestos fibers (although I didn't get lab results back as yet...I'm having the tar tested for asbestos).
you will only release fibers if you break up the tile just put a floating floor in
If the linoleum floor is in good condition use a floating floor system.

You could use either. In asbestos abatement, once all is removed areas are sprayed with glue to be sure no fibers are left floating in the air. Either way, you can do the same to control dangerous dust.
Technically you can do either one. Putting a floating floor over the asbestos floor is safest. No chance of any fibers getting through or floating around the air. Call a local expert and see what they suggest? See if there are any tips or tricks that you can work with? here’s a flooring store direct6ory. type in your zip and it will pull up tons of local stores… I used it to get more info and tricks when I did my floors and theses people are really willing to give information out for ya.
