a relative of mines moved to Lanzarote almost 3 years ago. He has recently been diagnosed with pleural mesothelioma, a quite rare type of cancer. He now wishes to come home, but almost no airlines will allow him on the flight with oxygen. Does anyone know of anywhere that can help? From a charity to a major airline, he will do anything to get home, as the average time for survival of this type of cancer is 9 months. He has had this for 8 months, so there is a certain sense of urgency about this.
Please help. Thanks
Firstly, the flight is not to the US, as it says in those big bold letters up top. secondly, I chose to put the question to the community as most people are quite resourceful and helpful, unlike you who is being very unhelpful and unfriendly. If you dont like the question, or think its silly or whatever do not answer it.

problem that the doctors have overlooked. Like mesothelioma becuase my father was a smoker for 40 years but also was exposed to asbestos for about 30 years working as a mechanic. Plus there is asbestos in the house he has lived in for 30 years.
he has been to two doctors and both have said it is emphesema.
he has not smoked in 2-3 years. his symtoms are stabbing pain in right side of chest, neck, and right arm that has been constant for three years. his cheeks and neck get hot. sensitivity to light. the main thing that worries me is the right arm and neck being included in the pain. if someone could tell me that this is normal we would both feel alot better. thanks

The last 2 months have been a pain in the rear! I have had numerous tests done to see what this chronic swelling in the face and neck and the doc thought my lymphoma might be back- it was not. The swelling did not go away though. So, he decided to check the chest/lungs, stomach, kidneys, gall bladder, liver, and pancreas. Everything was fine except the lungs. The lungs showed 4 small nodules, but the oncologist was not too worried. Now I have a stabbing pain under my right rib cage and it feels like I'm itching from the inside out. Could this be more serious. Does this sound like lung cancer?
I quit smoking 3 years ago and I didn't smoke real often to begin with. I don't live with smoker and am not in close contact with any. I have never been exposed to asbestos. I just don't get it!

I have been lucky, and have not had to deal with the nastiness of cancer. My grandpa has Mesothelioma, the cancer from asbestos. He has been in Stage 4 for the past 3 years and has defied all of the odds. They originally only gave him a couple months to a year to live, but Chemo has worked wonders. He just had a scan and the results showed it has increased in size significantly, so the last round of Chemo didn't work. This has caused his ability to breathe to decrease, and the changed his Chemo. He had his treatment with the new stuff on Friday, and they rushed him to the hospital today because of his inability to breathe.
My question is are these signs of the beginning of the end? I know this form of cancer will eventually suffocate him, and he does have a living will, so oxygen is the only form of assistance he will receive. How long will oxygen help? I am very saddened by all of this and would hate to see him suffer for long like this. He is a good man and doesn't deserve to die like this. Do your organs shut down due to lack of oxygen? Anyone with experience with Mesothelioma or that knows about this and can give me some insight, I'd appreciate any details no matter how graphic. I just want to know what to expect.
Don't go into all of the herbs and stuff you can take to beat cancer. We know he is dying and cannot beat this. I really appreciate the thought though.
I know they cannot tell us when he will die, but I feel so helpless. Thanks for the link, but I have read everything out there about this and really was hoping to find someone who knows about this type of cancer first hand.

I've had a skin condition for a while now (warts on my hands). Because one day i accidentally hit the wall and made a hole. (its been 3 years). I put a poster to cover the hole. I just figured out that the hole potentially had asbestos, because theres warts all over my hands and legs. Im in Canada. I was wondering if i'll get really sick and if theres asbestos in my house. We bought it new in 1999. Thanks =[
i just learned that asbestos still isnt banned in canada. Jeez worst week of my life
