We are looking at a house to buy which has asbestos siding. The siding is in good condition, no major breaks/cracks. However, we would like to eventually vinly side the house and wondered if just going over the old siding would be fine. I have heard that it is OK to do so if the asbestos siding is in good condition. Anyone know if this is a good idea?

My house was built in 1900 and has been sided with asbestos siding shingles. I need to replace some of them because I cannot afford to get rid of them. Any help would greatly be appreciated.
I just want to replace a few of the shingles that have gotten damaged. I do not have to remove all of them in order to sell the home. I do appreciate all the help.

I know some people that would turn their backs if they saw a centimeter of asbestos in a home for sale. Whats the big deal? I think the installed products are best left alone, and would release more fibers if you remove them.
Hey my house has asbestos siding under the plastic siding! 32 years in the same house, and no effects!

My old farmhouse still has white asbestos siding/shingles. My grandfather put them up around the 1950's. He died of lung cancer in 1969/1970. I was wondering where it came from, and what makes it so carcinogenic...And if they knew of the side effects of asbestos as early as the 1920's, why did they still permit it to be manufactured?? Anybody know about this?

Like I said my home I believe has asbestos siding and it is in bad condition already so I want to have the house re-done with stucco. Now I am not sure if I can just add the stucco on top of the siding or do I need to remove the siding. Please no information on asbestos as I am aware of the dangers I just want to know if I should remove them or not. Thanks.

They had asbestos siding and probably asbestos insulation. Is there anything I can do short of hiring an expensive company to detect and clean my property of asbestos contamination? Will it be OK for my child to play in the yard after I cut the grass? Will I be OK when I cut the grass?
