Isn't cancer.. cells that over produce themselves or something like that. create tumors?
But what does that have to do with things like lung cancer from smoking or cancer from asbestos or something.
"fertilizers that are used in growing most tobacco contain radioactive material that is carried in the smoke that is inhaled, and when it decomposes, it can mess up a cell's DNA. (You can avoid this buy smoking organic tobacco.)"
I have a hard time believeing that fertilizer has radioactive ingridents in it. And organic tobacco elimates cancer.

I am redoing the brakes, and I guess I need to wear a mask if the old brakes were asbestos. It's an '83 Volvo. Any thoughts? I hate masks, and don't want to wear one if it isn't strictly necessary.

I was exploring the basement of this old building downtown and there was construction going on (my friend told me they were working on removing asbestos)... Anyways, we were down there for about 30 minutes or so. Should I worry? Or Is long term exposure the only thing to be afraid of.

I sleep close to the ceiling of my wall, due to my loft bed. I'm not sure if I'm sleeping close to asbestos, and I frequently hit the wall on accident. It could be nothing, but I'm concerned to know if I'm really placing a dangerous bet with what's above me or it's merely nothing dangerous.
It looks similiar to this?

Other than getting cancer, what would be a good way of finding out?
Built in the late 70's.

I'm helping my friend dig a huge hole under her porch in a small space where they kept logs in for many years. The house is pretty old. I'm guessing at least 50 years old and my friend and i spend 3 hours there when we work. We're most likely going to work 2 days a week. Is there a chance that their might be asbestos in that space? How can we check, what can we do to get rid of it, and is it safe to live in that underground room we're planning to build when we finish digging the hole?

They said to be gone for a morning but is that long enough? I thought asbestos was only harmful to your lungs if inhaled but now I've heard of people who are claiming they got cancer from their roofs.

I've heard that mesothemiola though caused by asbestos, pretty much only occurs in smokers. Meanwhile my step-mom, her sister, father, mother and son have all had cancer and non were smokers.
Are some people pretty much immune to cancer unless they are exposed to severe carcinogens?

My apartment complex removed asbestos from the hall outside of my apartment without even telling us that they were doing this.
The hall is very long and there's about 20 doors in the hall leading into apartments.
When they were removing the asbestos everybody living here had to breath it and the dust from it also got into where we are living every time we opened our door.
Can I sue them for this?
They are saying that it wasn't asbestos but when we first moved in they told us about the asbestos and said not to disturb it and to leave it alone and now they are saying it wasn't asbestos but just regular paint.
Who can I notify about this and how can I prove it was asbestos they removed if they are saying it wasn't?
People here have babies and small children all of whom had to breath this cancer causing chemical.
Any help concerning this matter will be greatly appreciated.
