How to convince my dad to get a biopsy?

My dad had 4 spots on his lung and he was worried it was lung cancer because when he was younger he worked around asbestos. After the chest x-ray he had a CT scan. The results came back today that they are (from what my dad has told me) are calcium build up spots and could or couldn’t be cancer cell. They could be scars but no one would know until a biopsy. My dad opted against it because he had one along time ago I believe and he said it was VERY painful and he has a huge phobia of doctors and hates it.

The doctors got together and told him since they were so small, he could come back in a year and have another chest x-ray and they could compare to see if they got bigger. Now to me that’s just plain stupid and horrible advice from a doctor. Why risk it? Why not just get the biopsy and rule out if it is cancer. Or if it is, catch it early before he goes back in a year and it be 4 times in size and be told "if only you did the biopsy could we have saved your life"

My dad does a lot for me, and usually puts me before himself. I’m going to business school and something like this would haunt me everyday unless he does it. My dad believes there is no cure for lung cancer, however I read that if you catch it early your chances are way higher.

Where can I find proof that catching any kind of lung cancer is better then waiting? Proof that a biopsy is a good idea. Please help me.
I think the main factor for not doing it is because the doctors said they were small and "nothing yet" however that is horrible information because if it is cancer it could become very bad within a year.

Also, i’m not looking for "he should suck it up" or do it, I’m looking for links with prove that there is cures, and caught early can improve your chances a lot because I want to show him the proof. Also he’s 58 and has nothing else wrong with him (had blood tests done to make sure of other things)

Could you please pray for my little niece?

My sweetest little niece (my first cousin once removed)is only eight years old, she is very sick…she got cancer. The doctors could not make the conclusion before operation, but they suspect that she got Peritoneal Mesothelioma (Abdominal Mesothelioma). Could you pray for her please? She is in China, her name is Yiwen.

I Pleural mesothelioma and after a lot of test the only place i have any cancer in my right lung and the doctors think my best chance is to have it removed

A question about baby powder?

I’ve heard on that one show the Doctors that baby powder is really bad for babies because of the talcum powder. What is there to use instead, or should I just not use anything? I cut this out from a website too..

Talcum powder contains a substance similar in composition to asbestos, and some studies have linked the use of talcum powder to increased incidence of ovarian cancer. Accidentally inhaling it can lead to serious respiratory problems or even death.

Why deny…..?

If there are facts that are proven by virtually all scientists, why do people deny that such facts are true?

In the medieval, Galileo Galilei had a bad time because he found out that the sun and the earth don’t do what the church guys said.

In the 1970s scientits finally found out that asbestos causes lung cancer… quite a while after the year 1900 when some doctors found out the same but could not prove well enough. Of course, the industry opposed their opinion.

In the last decades we heard some news about the risks of smoking. In the USA there was a fast change, whereas in Europe science still has to face opposition, especially in politics.

Well, and when it comes to global warming, the first thing I read here in all the answers is something like "global warming is bull****, and only tree huggers believe in that nonsense…"

Why is that so?

Why do people deny scientific facts?
One more detail:

If it is, let’s say, 90% of the scientists telling you that global warming is made by us, why do you insist that the other 10% are right?

Mesothelioma (What to exspect?)?

My Aunt was diagnosed with this about two months ago. The doctors have told our family it is inoperable. The symptoms she is having now is flluid buildup in her lungs which has to be removed about every 4 days. I wanted to know if anyone knows what to exspect from here. They will give her a kimo treatment in a few days, but I wonder if this will do any good. If anyone can tell me about how long someone with this lives once it gets to this stage. Thank you so much, any help will be greatly appreciated.
I wanted to know is it time to call hospice or how long we should wait?

Please help me to help my grandfather

My grandfather has been recently diagnosed with asbestos cancer. He has lost a significant amount of weight. He hardly eats anymore. My family is very worried. We went to his house for dinner today and he is literally wasting away. His doctors have given him different medication to try to get him to want to eat, but they all had negative side effects so they took him off of them. He is still not eating, so my family is trying to find something more natural that is a good appetite stimulant. (I already tried to convince him to smoke pot, but he won’t)
Thank you so much for any advice!

Asbestos safety?

Hey i am planning on going into the Northampton State Hospital in Massachusetts soon to take pictures, but they have signs around and on the buildings saying Asbestos, cancer, and lung disease. I am only going in for about an hour, but I don’t want to get contaminated. What would be the proper face-mask to wear? I was thinking about those ones the doctors use or the paper ones you can buy from home depot. Are these safe? I’d rather not go and buy a face mask.

Thanks
Thanks for the tip, I didnt think that amount of time would be bad… The place isn’t being worked on, it’s just sitting there empty so the asbestos fibers shouldn’t be disrupted.
