Someone said that someone they know worked for an asbestos removal team. That it was really dangerous work. Finally law makers passed legislation that people had to stop tearing them down because it was a greater health risk to the workers and people living in the immediate area to tear the building down , due to it is old, it breaks,a and not in one piece, than it is to just leave them standing. All it takes is the smallest piece of asbestos in your lungs for you to develop serious lung and other illnesses.
What do you think, could they evacuate the buildings? I see people living in brand new buildings all the time that says "This building is known to the state of California to cause cancer" So the problems are that they are building more buildings with toxins, and/ or leaving dangerous buildings just standing, giving off fumes and maybe not evacuating them. Something seems wrong?

No, it’s not true. But you must take proper precautions to remove and dispose of the asbestos. For health and liability reasons, it should be done by a team experienced, equipped, and insured for the work. It’s quite harmless if left undisturbed. The sign actually says "This building contains material(s) known …" If you have any lead solder in the building, you must display that sign.

Yeah, terribly wrong. You you must remove the asbestos in most cases before it can be demolished. You can tear down a building and deposit all materials in an approved asbestos dumping sight. A word of warning…the asbestos material belongs to you forever, no matter where you physicly put it. Follow the guidelines and hire an abatement team. It will be expensive but, worth the effort in the long run.

You should leave asbestos alone and let the professionals deal with it. As panels in the walls or the roof, it is fairly safe if not disturbed. If the house is damaged though or you try to do DIY on it, fibres escape and can cause severe lung damage. They should not be building new developments with asbestos now; the problem is just how to deal with the old stuff put in before the health risks were understood.
