Had the same tiles on my house.

I had them removed & the house sided before they became old and started to crumble. I realized that they would have become a major problem if I wanted to sell the house.

Disposal was not a problem as long as they were not flaking.

Our other option was to have them spray sealed – then spray painted.

Slightly more expensive to side the house, but the asbestos is no longer an issue.

use a low pressure water and soap washer.

you cant–they are a hazard and no one will help you. you need to get rid of them–replace them with something else

You are safe since you said they were painted. I assume the paint is sticking?

Use 409, it is generally safe on most painted surfaces. Test in a small area first, then rinse with cold water.

If the paint flakes off, then you must either repaint with a more durable paint or remove the tile, neither one is a good thought.

Mountain cat is right…use a household cleaner and maybe a garden hose. Don’t use a high-pressure water stream.

Cement asbestos board, the "tile," doesn’t easily release fibers. As long as the paint is intact and the bare tile is not sanded, abraded, power washed, etc, you’re perfectly fine. You can even use a green scrubber, just don’t scrub through all the paint layers.

The greater hazard, in my opinion, is the possible lead contained in old paint. Be sure to dispose of the old paint chips and any materials you used in the garbage. Wash your hands and dry with paper towel.

    soap and a scrub brush.
